Dumbbells

To use dumbbells effectively:

To perform a dumbbell bench press:

• Lie on a flat bench with a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing forward.
• Lower the dumbbells to the sides of your chest while keeping your elbows at a 90-degree angle.
• Press the dumbbells back up to the starting position, fully extending your arms.
• Maintain control throughout the movement and engage your chest muscles.

To squat with dumbbells:

• Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides or rest them on your shoulders.
• Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
• Lower your body by bending your knees and hips, keeping your back straight.
• Descend until your thighs are parallel to the ground.
• Push through your heels to return to the starting position.

To target triceps with dumbbells:

• Sit or stand with a dumbbell in one or both hands.
• For overhead tricep extension, raise the dumbbell(s) overhead and lower it behind your head, then extend your arms upward.
• For tricep kickbacks, hinge at the hips, extend your arms backward, and squeeze your triceps.
• Maintain control and focus on the triceps throughout the exercises.

Adjustable dumbbells have a mechanism that allows you to change the weight. Common types include selectorised dumbbells with a dial or pin to adjust the weight and traditional adjustable dumbbells with collars for adding or removing weight plates. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to change the weight, ensuring it's securely fastened before use.
